Within the book of Exodus are two fascinating story streams:

The life of Moses, chosen from birth and put through a specific course of training to prepare him for his future leadership role. At a bush that burned but was not consumed he very reluctantly accepted God's commission to return to Egypt.

This book charts the progress of Moses in his tentative steps to fit into the role God had given to him and how his confidence before the Pharaoh grew and his trust in and increasing intimacy with God became the stuff of legends. Once in the wilderness, it was Moses task, with God's help, to develop them into a functioning nation.

The remarkable establishment of a new, structured nation which was born out of sacrificing a lamb. Initially a rabble that was driven out of Egypt in the early hours of the morning, only to be faced with the sea before them and Pharaoh's troops being them. Then the miraculous parting of the sea and the drowning of the Pharaoh and his army. We find out why the Pharaoh had to die.

It is an inspirational book that leads the reader through the testing and trials as they adjust to the freedom from the work master's whip, and try the patience of both Moses and God. It also explains why Sinai is so vitally important to Israel then and now, and their progress though the nation's training in the wilderness under the fatherly and caring leadership of Moses.
