In the fall of 1902, a group of boys in the young frontier town of Ripley, Oklahoma form a brotherhood they call the River Rats?a loose guild bound not by rules, but by courage, curiosity, and the pull of the wild Cimarron River.
What begins as boyhood adventure soon becomes something far more dangerous.
Beyond the familiar swimming holes and cottonwood banks lies a harsher world?of shifting sandbars, hidden caves, violent storms, and men who live outside the law. When a sudden twister drives the boys into a cave for shelter, they stumble upon something they were never meant to witness... and find themselves hunted by killers who cannot afford to leave witnesses behind.
Lost without supplies, pursued through unfamiliar country, and forced to break every rule they were ever taught, the River Rats must rely on grit, loyalty, and each other to survive.
