The collection of short stories "The Ships Did Not Dock" earned Menelaos Lountemis the 1st State Prize for Prose in 1938. The author creates stories around themes that have particularly concerned him since the beginning of his writing career: actors who, through poor performances, try to emerge, self-destructive figures, sick and forgotten by everyone, people from the margins, well-dressed girls who end up in cheap prostitution and, by changing their names, try to forget their past, women of good society who try to satisfy their desires.
Stories full of humanity and love, stories about those who, despite the difficulties of everyday life, never stop searching for a light, a hope, redemption.
