In the ruins of a broken world, five teens, Justin, Liam, Jetta, Ash, and John, raised in the house of Phoenix have one purpose; survive, fight, and obey. Their mission is simple, capture a Drayth, a powerful mutant feared for its deadly connection to a secret weapon known as the Shade, but when the mission collapses 18-year-old Justin is wounded and mutates into a Drayth himself. The five teens are caught between what the house demands and what their friendship can survive. Justin, is tasked to find the Shade himself, and learns more than he expected. He uncovers the truth behind the Drayth, the secret, and the man he calls Father. To stop an all out war, Justin has to decide to defend the family he's always known, or reveal the secrets that could tear them apart. In the dark times, loyalty is a weapon, and Justin might be the deadliest one.
