Discover the journey of Valdinei Mauro de Souza, known as "Ney Garimpeiro," president of the Fomentas Mining Company Group, which holds some of the country's leading gold mining operations.
Coming from a very humble background, Ney sought to "ride the wave" of gold prospecting in Pará between the 1990s and 2000s. There, many went bankrupt or "bluffed," as they say in mining slang, while a few others became wealthy - or, in the miners' own "language," they "struck it rich."
In the past, Ney experienced in Pará the most difficult and critical moments of his life, enduring situations in which he often found himself asking, "Is it really worth persisting?" Even without realizing it at the time, those harsh years in the gold fields of Pará represented what could be called his "University of Mining." If he did not strike it rich financially, he certainly did in terms of knowledge about the industry.
After becoming an expert in gold prospecting, he decided to return home to Mato Grosso, where he invested the little capital he had - along with a wealth of experience - eventually consolidating his position, years later, as president of the Fomentas Mining Company Group.
Even during the hardest times, Ney would always pray: "God will open a great door for me!"
And indeed, God truly hears our prayers.
