Kevin Thomas Smith is a veteran Social Studies educator, teaching a variety of high school history and AP courses for over 23 years. He holds a master's degree in educational leadership and a bachelor's degree in social science education. A published author, Kevin has written Teaching with Text-Based Questions (2014) and Teaching with DBQs (2017), both with Routledge. Recognized for his excellence, he was a Teacher of the Year finalist (2003), received the Spotlight Teaching Award (2004), and was nominated for the Excellence in Teaching History Award (2018). Kevin has mentored new teachers, supervised interns, and served on the Board of the Florida Council for Social Studies. He has also written articles for Education Week, appeared on Larry Ferlazzo's Classroom Q&A podcast, and presented professional development workshops.
